Audience Profile

Above is a Prezi presentation i made when researching The target Audience or Audience Profile for the genre of Film Noir. I have created youtube videos inside the prezi which can be played - showing the different elements and themes within film noir and how they appeal to a variety of audiences - not just fans of the noir genre but many other genres of film. Looking in Depth at various other genres and how they link to Film Noir helped me to see that the target audience of Film Noir is extremely varied - which allows us to try and include a variety of elements/themes in our own movie to try and attract as many people as we can.

Here are the list of videos of which i have included within the prezi presentation:-

Romance

Crime/Thriller

Action/Adventure

Film Shooting Scheduel

As we journey further and further towards the start of actually filming our Noir short, we have needed to plan in more detail, looking at what days each member of our group can film (as well as actors who will feature in the movie), how long we have to complete the task, when certain scenes must be filmed (due to conditions such as day and night time scenes etc) and location which is a vital element.
We have come up with this scheduel which depicts the dates, times, locations and scenes that will be filmed. organising filming details such as these that often get overlooked or forgotten are vital  has allowed us to

Film Noir Story-Board

Film Institutions Reasearch

We have come to the point now where we need to, as a group, create or select a film institution that suits the needs for our Film Noir short. I have researched into existing film institutions in closer detail, (ones that deal with the Film Noir genre particularly) and various background information in order to find a suitable institution which works for us.

Film Title Ideas

There we have brainstormed ideas for our film title (including the reasoning behind each idea) in a spider diagram layout. We have taken existing Film Noir titles into account, as well as thinking about obvious themes present in our film which we feel should be expressed through the title. We have also looked back at the history of the Film Noir Genre itself ( French and German origins) experimenting with different languages:-

Initial Planning

As a group, we decided to brainstorm various plot ideas/narratives for our own film. We created various situations that follow conventions of film noir and that would be well suited for our task.

Film Concept

Dead Man Running:-

(Sum up of Film's plot in 25 words)

A detective on a murder case is seduced by the victims wife, trying to cover up the fact she killed her husband for his money.

Intial Chosen Plot Line/Narrative

Basic Plot:-

As a group we have all put our ideas forward to finally come up with this basic outline to a narrative we feel would work well for our own Film Noir. We have numbered them in 5 different steps/scenes which will be the base/rough outline of our films plotline:-

  1. Femme Fatale kills her husband for wealth
  2. Protagonist is a detective who investigates the death of said husband
  3. Femme Fatale seduces protagonist to distract him and save her own back
  4. Protagonist finds out Femme Fatale commited the crime
  5. Femme Fatale kills Protagonist

Researching into Todorov's '5 Stages of Narrative' theory influenced us as we tried to follow these steps in order to imitate and reflect genuine and authentic aspects of classic Film Noir. However we have also decided to make slight changes and put our own spin on the theory, additionally using flash backs and the start and end of the narrative as an artistic/interesting way of getting the story across to the audience.

Visual Basic Plot-line

Here we have a basic outline of the narrative that we have created for our own Film Noir Short. We have decided on 7 main scenes (of importance) as a vague outline as to what our film will be based on. We have invisioned these ideas and attempted to add a visual element as to what these scenes may look like/consist of by using sketches/images to define these scenes.
